Amman, December 20 (Petra) - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ya'rub Qudah, affirmed the year 2026 will be a "turning point" in Jordan-US trade relations.

Qudah made the remarks as he deputized for the Prime Minister at the annual ceremony held by the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan to review the achievements of 2025, under the theme: "Connecting Businesses, Creating Opportunities, and Promoting Growth." Qudah stated 2026 will witness a "significant" boost in Jordan-US trade relations, both in terms of the Kingdom's imports and exports to the American market.

Qudah called for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, noting the vital role of the private sector in driving sustainable growth and investment.

Jordan, he stated, also believes in trade agreements and highly values its "long-standing" relations and partnership with the United States, commending this partnership as "strong, robust, and deep," and will continue across various fields.

Qudah stated Jordan's imports from the United States amounted to only $400 million before signing the Free Trade Agreement, while Jordanian exports to the US reached $3 billion last year, compared to just $60 million prior to the agreement.

Qudah noted a "significant" increase in the Kingdom's imports from the United States during the first nine months of this year, with their value rising to JD1.252 billion, compared to JD945 million for the same period in 2024.

During the ceremony, which was attended by a large number of guests, the chamber's strategic partners, and member companies, he said the government, under its decisions and plans, is focusing on strengthening and empowering the Jordanian private sector.

Qudah also said "the importance of bilateral trade relations is not limited to Jordan and the United States, but also extends to joint opportunities in the region." In this context, he referred to "tremendous" opportunities in the reconstruction of Syria, which requires establishment of joint projects and making the Kingdom a hub for launching reconstruction projects in Syria.
